Morning Motivator - Work Smarter...

"Intelligence is the ability to avoid doing work, yet getting the work done."
- Linus Torvalds, Creator of Linux

What is the GOAL of every person in their profession? Get paid MORE while doing LESS. Sounds logical, right?

Daily, people LEARN better ways to accomplish their goals in less TIME with less EFFORT. They are finding ways to INCREASE their abilities, enhance the TALENTS and LEVERAGE their intelligence.

The CHALLENGE for many people is that they are not AWARE of their talents or simply don't BELIEVE they can accomplish more than current. Some people fail to even CARE about accomplishing more. If you had your CHOICE - what do you want? More with less or less with more?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
There are a PROVEN ways to do more with less, here's a few to consider:
1. Learn a new skill through a class or book
2. Ask for help from someone that's an expert already
3. Leverage resources (human, capital, technology)
4. Use the old fashioned way... Trial and Error (best way to learn)

When you make a COMMITMENT to learning, you will find an INCREASE in your relative intelligence and as a RESULT... Begin doing MUCH more with much less!

Have a GREAT weekend!!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - Try To Stop Me!

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me."
- Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

Remember when you were a kid and your parents COULDN'T stop you from doing anything? Remember when you would tell anyone NO when they challenged what YOU wanted?

It is FUNNY to me that as we "grow up," we actually begin LIMITING ourselves through past experiences and individual beliefs. We BELIEVE because we didn't get a good grade on an English exam, that we are not good writers. We decide the results of our past relationships actually FORECAST future relationship success or failure. We start shying away from RISK, so we don't have to feel pain.

Somehow, we CONVINCE ourselves that OUTSIDE factors have some limiting capability on our achievement. We RATIONALIZE that we do not have control over our results and accomplishments. In REALITY, if you DECIDE to accomplish and succeed - there is almost NOTHING that can stop you!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Life is a matter of CHOICES. One of the most important choices is choosing to take OWNERSHIP of your success and actions!

Do not ACCEPT nor ALLOW others to dictate your actions or success results. If someone makes an effort to influence your decisions or actions in a way that CONTRADICTS your success plan, you must STAND UP and take CONTROL of the situation.

Find a COMPROMISE, seek DISCUSSION and SHARE your goals so as to create a mutually beneficial environment. People will RESPECT your willingness to stand and say "Try To Stop Me!"

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Small Bites

"Beware of undertaking too much at the start. Be content with quite a little. Allow for accidents. Allow for human nature, especially your own."
-Arnold Bennett

Ever heard these comments..? "OMG!  Another huge project that will take weeks to finish!!" or  " How can I achieve this sales goal – its OVERWHELMING?!"  Frequently, we are asked to take on tasks that seem LARGE and unreasonable to manage successfully.  Yet, every day, many less talented people do an EXCELLENT job of starting, managing and completing large tasks.  What Is their SECRET?

SMALL BITES.  Small, simple, manageable tasks allow you to scale down any large project into something that you can ACCOMPLISH.  Have you ever heard the phrase, "How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time."  This is a simple concept.  Consider the last time you sat down to a big steak for dinner.  What did you do to eat it?  I am CONFIDENT you didn't just pick it up and shove it in your mouth.  You likely CUT IT into smaller, more palatable portions.  Additionally, by doing so, you were able to also ENJOY some potatoes, your wine and the veggies (multitasking).  Just think if you took the SAME approach to your work projects – work would be more enjoyable… just like the steak.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
When you are first given a project, RESIST the urge to get a "head start" and begin IMMEDIATELY.  Take a moment and do some ANALYSIS.  Consider what resources are needed, what goals are being pursued and how you will measure the short term success that are needed to result in the long term ACCOMPLISHMENT of your greater goal.

By "chunking down" the task into small manageable pieces, you are better able to PLAN your days activities, ask for human or financial resources and "feel" IMMEDIATE results even in the looming eyes of a 6 month project.

If you take care of the small tasks along the way with PRECISION and DISCIPLINE – the big task will "just happen" as a result.  Now get to work!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - In The Pressure Cooker

"If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hope."
- Andrew Carnegie

Are you the type of person that is BEST under pressure? Do you STRIVE when the project is a RUSH?

Many people would say they are at their BEST when they are forced into a short deadline. Why? Its likely a dedicated FOCUS on a single task that gives you the ILLUSION of being better under pressure.

By ESTABLISHING a focused goal that creates immediate POSITIVE results, we are provided with a gratification that is intense and fulfilling. We are able to see the ACCOMPLISHMENTS of our hard labor and revel in it.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
What is important to understand is that this sense of ACCOMPLISHMENT can be met daily.

By establishing short term goals that have an immediate, measurable result, you are able to FOCUS intensely on your task and enjoy the RUSH of pride from ACHIEVING your set goal.

When you begin setting GOALS that create a positive result and productive mind set - you will find greater JOY in your work and personal life. What goals can you set TODAY!?

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - Make Time to Be Successful

Special THANK YOU to Josh Anderson of Keller Williams Realty for contributing this article from allaboutnews.com.

In the essence of the Morning Motivator, I like to write all articles myself, however this one was so good - I'm making an exception. Enjoy!

ON-Time
Take Time Out for Planning

Have you ever had days, weeks, or even months go by when you were frustrated in your work activities because you failed to implement the things that you know you need to do in order to be more successful? Perhaps you've taken pages and pages of great notes at seminars on the subject of how to improve your business, only to return to the office the next day and implement none of it. The reason this happens to people is because they lack a plan. More importantly, it happens because they are not practicing ON-Time.

ON-Time is a time you set aside to work on your business instead of in your business. The simple fact is that in our daily routine, we are typically in a reactive state. The phones are ringing, the emails are coming in, there are voice mails to check, clients to meet with, staff members to assist. On and on it goes. During all this reactive behavior, we have very little time to work on the things that we need to put into place to take our business to the next level.

Get into a good habit by practicing ON-Time!

Leaving the office on a regularly scheduled basis to work on your business in a totally quiet, serene, and proactive environment is critical to your success in the long run. All successful business people practice some form of ON-Time.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Here's a suggestion on how to construct your own ON-Time schedule. Take out a folder and put it in your briefcase. Call this your ON-Time Folder. Every time during your normal work week you come up with an idea, hear about something or see something that could increase your business, throw it into your ON-Time Folder.

At least one full day per month, schedule time to leave the office and spend that entire business day somewhere outside the office. Make sure it is a serene place, or a meditative place, where you can practice ON-Time with a clear head. That means no cell phones and no interruptions! Take out your ON-Time Folder and work on the things you need to address to take your business to the next level. If you discipline yourself to doing this 12 times per year, the difference will be profound. Your level of success and your ability to take your business further will increase, hand in hand.

Stay tuned for more great ideas to build and manage your business!

Cheers,
Zach
