Morning Motivator - Have Fun or Die Trying

"What good is a career if you cannot have any fun working in it?" Zach Barker

Today is FRIDAY... finally. Are you most excited to get away from work or get to some recreation? YES, those are two very different things!!

Some people work all week long in misery with their only solace being the weekend forthcoming. That weekend is often filled with beer guzzling, hard core recreation and as much FUN jammed into two days as possible. Typically based solely on the fact that there are five horrible days forthcoming.

What a terrible way to live. Misery in between weekend after drunken wasted weekend. Why can work not be more fun? Why does it have to be so terrible? It doesn't.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP: First, lets be frank. Work sucks. That is why it is called work. Everyone has elements of their job that are terrible. Pro athletes have strict diets and insane workouts. Teachers have summers off and the other three seasons "on" filled with a lack of appreciation and much "in class" disrespect. Even a guy that owns an adult intramural sports league has to do paperwork, deal with finances and insurances. Again, all work sucks...

Yet, there is a glimmer of hope! The "work" of your job sucks, but that does not mean that your work has to. How much fun is coaching? TONS, when you prepare properly. How exciting is a review from your managers? ENTHRALLING when you have done all the little things to earn it.

Success is FUN. Winning is FUN. Preparation for success and winning...can be too! Your attitude and focus will determine if you will predetermine your later successes by your ability to make the WORST parts of work fun (or enjoyable) thus allowing you the right to REALLY have fun when you reap the rewards of your success!!

Have fun - even with the "WORK" and you will find that the real fun comes when you get the big raise, promotion or win the fancy trip! Make it a priority - HAVE SOME FUN!!

Cheers,

Zach

Morning Motivator - Are You Too Hard On Yourself?

"And although I like to relax and have fun, my passion is my work." - Benjamin Cohen

First, my apologies for my failure to deliver the MM yesterday. The "why" is not important, just the fact that it was not delivered. My apologies.

Ok, so follow me on today's as I pull this together. Yesterday, I heard that France is in danger of losing their AAA bond rating, just as the USA did earlier this week. As I thought about it, I realized that maybe we were being to hard on the USA for losing its rating. Then, I thought, well, we probably are as professionals too. Here comes the tie together...

If France and all the other major economies (that have AA status) lose their premier bond rating, then, in actuality, we are all back to AAA. Just a lower quality. So, how does that relate to being a professional? Well, have you considered that YOU are one of the few leaders in the world that are excellent at their job or at least strive for excellence? It is hard to see that since you are surrounded with other superstars!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP: As high achievers, we are continually striving to do better than our peers and maximize our internal vision of our potential. We are always measuring ourselves (stupidly) by "today's leader" in our pack. We NEVER give ourselves a second to relax or release any of the pressure to be TOP DOG.

What if you hung out with a bunch people that could barely hold a job, cared little or not at all about the growth of our communities and country, while seeking as many ways as possible to cheat the system? If those were the only people you knew, you would be able to take some of the pressure to be successful off...likely, you would just be like them.

The point to all this is that you are probably being too hard on yourself. IF you are giving best effort in striving to do better, be better and achieve more, then why get so upset when something does not work out? If you gave all you had, well, then what else could you have done?

In NO MEANS am I saying take a break...rather, I am saying just try giving yourself one.

Cheers,

Zach

Morning Motivator - The Best Option is YOU

"When you cannot find the right person for the job, just look in the mirror."
- Unknown

I have been enjoying some new discussions recently regarding finding the "right" speaker for an upcoming presentation. Even more interesting is how much time was spent seeking the IDEAL person, only to come to the end decision that the ideal person was one of us!

Why is it that we most often DISCOUNT our own talents first? We assume that to attain maximum effect we must have a HUIGE name or company backing us. Why do we not believe that it is in within ourselves to be the BEST OPTION?

Do you know someone that knows more about your subject than you? Do you not work as a "professional" providing a service or product to others? If you are NOT the best, then how can you expect that anyone should buy from you?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP: FAITH is about believing in something that you cannot touch, taste, smell, feel, etc. It is the ACCEPTANCE that something is present even when there is evidence lacking. Why not have FAITH in yourself?

The best professionals will always tell you that they bet one THEMSELVES before they will ever bet on anyone else. Why? What do they know that others do not?

Frankly, they UNDERSTAND that they are an EXPERT. They also know they have the ability to overcome any challenges by choosing to do so, as opposed to relying on someone else's work ethic. They have FAITH that they are the best and if not, they have the ability and desire to become so.

Are you the BEST? Is there a better option than YOU? Have FAITH in yourself and choose YOU as your best option... you might just IMPRESS yourself!

Cheers,

Zach

Morning Motivator - A Step Towards Goal Success

"Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans." - Peter Drucker

GOAL SETTING seminars generate MASSIVE amounts of revenue annually. People struggle year in and year out with their ability set, manage and achieve goals. Why? Why is it that every January 1st, gyms EXPLODE with new members, only to have the overwhelming majority gone by February 1st?

Setting goals is EASY. Pick something you want to achieve and pick a date to complete it. There you go... send your $100.00 check to me directly.

What the real classes should be on is "GOAL COMMITMENT." This is the effective INVESTMENT of an individual into the achievement of their goal. Planning can be done all year long, action is what matters, with results being the outcome discovered from commitment. Amazing huh?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP: COMMITMENT, you know that thing every girl wants and every guy is slow to understand, is what makes things work PROPERLY!

When you begin making a quality INVESTMENT into a goal, such a scheduled/dedicated time or personal finances, you will see the drastically increased likelihood of success.

Why do personal trainers and business coaches work? Not because they are GENIUSES at their craft, RATHER, because the force commitment and investment. They create ACCOUNTABILITY for you!

If you want to achieve your goals - stop PLANNING the 800 ways to do something and start with the ONE thing you can do today to create a COMMITMENT to your success. The most important step on any journey is nothing more than the first one TAKEN. Take that step...

Cheers,

Zach
