PMorning Motivator - What Happens if YOU are NOT Growing?
- George Shinn
We have all heard the phrase, "If you are not growing, you are dying!" How much TRUTH is in it?
Consider what happens to your BODY when you work out (or stop). When you are running, lifting, etc - your body BUILDS muscle and burns fat. You are GROWING your health.
When you CEASE to exercise, no matter how good your diet is - your body begins to BREAKDOWN and decline in performance. Your muscles begin a "DYING" process...
2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
How does that scenario RELATE to your mind, business and finances?
Are you FOCUSED on developing and enhancing your best attributes? Do you want your business to FLOURISH?
To achieve the SUCCESSES you seek, you must learn to GROW yourself, your goals and the people around you.
Take a RISK, CREATE the environment... then GROW! It will be a WONDERFUL experience...
Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Trusting Your Team
- Duane Michals
Ever wonder why your leadership team HIRED you? Do you know what it really MEANS to be a part of a team? What is being SAID when you are asked to manage a set of tasks to completion?
TRUST is a word that is defined by the bond between two or more people. It is established by the CONTINUAL commitment to ensuring the success and well being of one another. When someone has the ability to KNOW that you have their best interests at heart AND the commitment to seeing you effectively execute all the necessary steps to share in their goals – you truly can be left to your own accord.
We all seek FREEDOM in our professional lives to serve as leaders. We seek the CONFIDENCES of our leadership teams to take on major projects and see them through to their successful achievement. Collectively, a focused goal of most employees is to make SIGNIFICANT difference in their company, such that they are able to build something BIGGER than themselves… a LEGACY.
2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Do you know how a business really GROWS? It is done by trusting your team, their plans and their ability to execute…WHOLLY!
REALITY CHECK: You cannot physically be everywhere, all the time.
REALITY SOLUTION: Allow your trusted business partners, team members and/or vendors the opportunity to PROVE they are as awesome as you think.
When you finally "let go" of the security blanket you carry, which can be seen in the phrase, "you want it don't right, do it yourself," you DISCOVER the true meaning of LEADERSHIP. This is most commonly found by doing what you FEAR most – TRUSTING someone else to take GREAT care of things for you!
Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Just Enough is Good Enough… Now Do It!
- Lyn Yutang
Have you heard the phrase, "the enemy of good is great?" Any idea what that REALLY means?
In each of our offices, we have what could be termed a "Dragon Slayer." This is the person that is FOCUSED on getting things perfect, no matter how deep into a project they get. They are the ones that take a CHALLENGE head on and will not QUIT until the goal is achieved. These people are REALLY good at making sure things are done right.
This is an ADMIRABLE trait correct? Sure, I wouldn't disagree. What I might SUGGEST is that sometime this person just goes TOO FAR. Similar to a physician that takes a patient with a cold a diagnoses degenerative bone development in a patient NOT complaining about bone pains, this person may go OVERBOARD on occasion.
2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
If you have ever had FRUSTRATIONS with the "perfectionist" or worse, you KNOW you are that person – you can understand the challenge in managing someone that doesn't know when "enough is enough."
In order for us all to do our business, execute our goals, manage our time and resources EFFECTIVELY – we must know when GOOD is better than GREAT. When "getting it done" is more important than "fixing the big problem."
Always FOCUS on providing the BEST service possible… just realize that sometimes your BEST at the moment - is not PERFECT. Fix it, report it and PERFECT it later… everyone appreciates someone that knows when GOOD is just enough!
Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Are You a Habitual Toothbrush "Abandoner?"
-Scott Sorrell
While I was away this past week for work, I was asked to take a DISC behavior profile test. Last time I took this test, I was CATEGORIZED as an "I," which is someone that is very outgoing, talkative and lacks discipline in the management.
This time, I came back as a "D," which is defined by their directness, focus and need to CONTROL this around them. Pretty scary… this thing has me PEGGED!
As I was reflecting on the old Zach vs. new Zach, I wondered what made the big change. Likely it's the LEADERSHIP role in Junior Chamber, in addition to growing responsibilities within work. Moreover, it's the FRUSTRATION with continually having to chase my tail because I didn't PREPARE properly… sounds familiar?
Howe often have you had to EXECUTE 3x the work because you failed to plan properly? Have you arrived at an appointment, just to find you left the most IMPORTANT document at the office? Are you a HABITUAL tooth brush "abandoner" on trips?
2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Like most people, I had the PROCRASTINATION gene handed down to me. I was one to wake up 22 minutes before school because I had tested time and time again to KNOW that was how long it took. I would show up to the airport 45 minutes prior to a flight as I KNEW it would only take 40 to get through check in, security and to the terminal. I was AMAZING at it… well, kind of.
Often, for those of us that PROCRASTINATE, I was late, unprepared, disorganized – a WRECK!
By preparing at 2 nights in advance for a trip – I never FORGOT my toothbrush again. By spending 1 hour of prep work for a meeting – I closed MORE deals. By reading the document we would review in Junior Chamber – we ACCOMPLISHED more!
Isn't your time VALUABLE enough to make sure you don't WASTE it later? Take the extra time and you will find you SAVE a ton of it!
Cheers,
Zach
