Morning Motivator - Do Your Best, Better!

"Success is found in doing what you love, then doing it your way."
- Unknown

We all want to be SUCCESSFUL. We seek to use our God given TALENTS to achieve that success. Yet, sometimes, we don't use our talents in our BEST ways...

How well do you ACCOMPLISH goals when you do it YOUR way? How much FUN is the process? How much better QUALITY do you produce?

So, ask yourself... Am I doing it MY way?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
To better serve yourself, your company and your clients, you better KNOW your best skills.

Ask yourself: What do I do BEST? Who do I DO it for? How do I DO it? Where can I do it BEST?

Once you UNDERSTAND what and how you do it best... GO DO IT! Share your TALENTS, GIFTS, INSIGHT and more with as many people as able (and make sure you stay true to yourself along the way).

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Ask to Get

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek; and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
- Matthew 7:7-8

What is it about the human PRIDE that keeps us from seeking the wisdom of others?  We REJECT the aid of people that are able to assist in lieu of "saving face."  Yet, where does this EVENTUALLY find us?  In the same place we started, with much less time.

In my short professional lifetime, I have found one truth to be CONSISTENT and EFFECTIVE.  When you ask for help – you always get it!

Please note that "help," as defined above, does not always mean the person you are speaking with is HELPFUL, rather, they will help.  Confused yet?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
HELP comes in many forms – a lesson from a teacher, a memo from the boss, a YouTube video on "how to."  Help also comes in the forms of being IGNORED or even REJECTED.  Oh yes, that is STILL help…

Some of the best lessons we learn are from being left to our OWN accord.  Forced to FIND our own way and create our own solutions.  And while a teacher is kind enough to show us the most SIMPLE path to learning, often, we choose the more DIFFICULT, with much greater impact to follow.

The simple lesson of today's Morning Motivator is this:
If you need or want something, ASK FOR IT!  No fear – just ask!!  More often than not, you will find the answer you are seeking in the most efficient manner this way.  Should you not get what you "wanted," then maybe you didn't want it so bad after all…

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Success via Alliances

"In this new wave of technology, you can't do it all yourself, you have to form alliances."
- Carlos Slim Helu

I had a very INTERESTING discussion yesterday with one of my very good friends and trusted business partners, Duane Marshall, about creating a valuable alliance.

We discussed the "new world" and how clients expect that you are able to EFFICIENTLY and EFFECTIVELY move them to the "expert" as quickly as able.  They want to SPEAK with the person that has "ownership" in the deliverable.  They want to WORK with the person "accountable" to the process.  The want the KNOW the person that will "service" their needs after the sale.

Welcome to a NEW REALITY of business…

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
The REALITY, today, is that your job has become less and less of "being" the expert.  Rather, more and more of "knowing and connecting" the experts.

Simply put – the days of you being the CATCH ALL, ONE STOP SHOP are over and no longer even expected.  Clients KNOW that you don't know it all.  The KNOW that you don't do it all.  They KNOW you are working with others to help get it done… and they EXPECT you will be in CONTROL of the project to get it completed properly.

Know that you are EXPECTED to be the master coordinator and project manager; you better pick your ALLIANCES well.

Look for the best of the best, regardless of fees, as now YOUR quality of work is THEIRS!

Have the BEST alliances and you will have one of the BEST businesses.

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Keep Organized, Keep Ahead

"Don't agonize. Organize."
- Florynce Kennedy

If you were going in to have a major heart surgery, would you like to know your cardiologist had a CHECKLIST of what needs to be done?  Wouldn't a CHECKLIST be a pretty good idea for ATTORNEY as well going into a contract negotiation?  It seems that even a good husband can BENEFIT from the organization of a "honey-do" list from his loving wife…

Excellent ORGANIZATION allows you to eliminate "surprises" as you execute your tasks or duties.  By having a "control sheet" denoting all the critical key elements required to validate the completion of a task, you hedge some of the risk associated with the failure of the human brain.

Sure, we are all pretty darn smart… but how many times have you gone to the store for bread and purchased everything but??  It is not our fault that the human BRAIN, God's most powerful super computer, has simple faults like confusion, trouble with prioritization and distraction.

Remember that your brain doesn't separate VALUE of a task.  It simply processes the information, just as a computer would.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Organization is not necessarily about a spotless desk or a file for every piece of paper you have ever seen in your life.

Organization is about CONTROL over the critical elements that are required to be completed in order to achieve your goals.

An excellent technique, as mentioned above, is CHECK LISTING.  By taking the time, once, to create a master checklist for the tasks you complete again and again, you can EXPEDITE future tasks and eliminate "do-over's."

Continually examine your checklist as you complete a project and seek to ELIMINATE steps, if viable, as well as add any CRITICAL ones should they be necessary.

Once you have CONTROL over the elements of a task or project that you know need to be done, you will find that your CREATIVITY and INGENUITY will kick in – allowing you to be better, faster and stronger in your execution.

Write Morning Motivator – check!

Cheers,
Zach
