Morning Motivator - Expose Yourself to Success

"It is only when you can see what you 'could be' that you are able to be what you 'should be.'"
- Anonymous

When you were a child, what did you WANT to be? A doctor? A lawyer? A police officer?

Did you ever CONSIDER becoming a music producer? A video game developer? How about a marine biologist?

Everyone TOYED with the ideas of being on of the professions at the top... Why?! Everyone KNEW what those jobs were. Very few of us knew of music production or marine biology. How could we be what we COULD NOT see!?

Our challenge is that we weren't AWARE (or educated) enough about all of our options.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
While there are many "unique thinkers" in the world... Very few of us have that special skill. Thus, the vast MAJORITY of us need to be exposed to success to achieve it.

By ASSOCIATING with others that are successful, in varied capacities, you are able to EXPAND your reality to include multiple options.

Your parents always said your FRIENDS define who you are... So find SUCCESSFUL friends and learn from them.

Too often, success is just "being there" around the right people.

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - Getting Emotional About It

"Sadness, Hopelessness, Anger and Solace. These are very natural emotions after this type of experience."
- Unknown

As the water begins to recede in Nashville, the people of this community are now FORCED to face and manage their emotions.

A DISASTER, of any kind, is always CHALLENGING in its aftermath. Think of a major break up, a job loss or major home damage... All are SEVERE in intensity and challenging to PREPARE for.

How should you FEEL after an event such as those above? Pissed off? Sure. Utterly depressed? Absolutely. Helpless? That's ok too!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Understanding how you MANAGE your emotions is an excellent way to CATALYZE your recovery.

For me, I know I usually react nonchalant, initially, when DEALING with a disaster, then get pissed, then get focused and then start moving forward!

By recognizing your EMOTIONAL path, you are able to SEPERATE reaction from real emotion. This will prevent you from saying things you don't mean, or acting in way that you will regret later.

Your emotions are you GUIDING LIGHT to recovery. You may act IRRATIONAL at times, yet, its part of the healing process. Let it happen and you will find your RECOVERY on the other side.

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Don’t Dwell, Get Moving!

"Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer."
- Denis Waitley

The days following a huge let down are the most DIFFICULT.  You go through many emotions – fear, anxiety, distress, depression, anger and more.  Typically, you have a good 'ol fashioned FrEaK oUt session… and it is very NORMAL.

You are ENTITLED to your emotions and the stresses that are associated with an unforeseen changes.  Just know that the LONGER you take to dwell on it, the more you are DELAYING the inevitable – YOU MUST MOVE ON!

No one expects that you will REBOUND the day after a break up, a home loss, a forced career change, or the loss of a loved one, and yet, you will have to move on.  You WILL need to get back to working, learning, teaching, and loving.  You WILL be asked to TRY AGAIN and likely very soon!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
The best REMEMDY for tragedy, failure or disappointment is FORWARD MOVEMENT.

Sure it is difficult, yet it is NECESSARY.  Just trying small steps to pick up the pieces and move forward builds the CONFIDENCE necessary to achieve MORE (just as you did before).

Ask for a date, go on an interview, throw out all the DAMAGED items in your home. – do anything to ERASE the negativity that you are faced with today.

Remember that the FIRST step is always the most CHALLENGING… after that you are just walking with the same confident swagger you had before!!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - A Disaster May Save Your Life

"Only after disaster can we be resurrected."
- Chuck Palahniuk

I must predicate this MM, with my deepest sorrows for all those whom lost their lives in the Nashville floods, as well as all those from other major disasters.  I pray your families and loved ones peace through their sorrows.

Disasters are INEVITABLE.  We can prepare DILIGENTLY with all our capacities, and still, we will never be as prepared as possible.  Inevitably, you WILL be affected by a tragedy you never planned for – the loss of a loved one, a fire in your home, the elimination of your job – all are disasters (albeit not in the same scale as others).

Yet, a disaster is an OPPORUNITY - a chance for you to REBUILD and REALIGN your purpose with your being.  We are all so easily DRAWN off track with our "success and goals" that we lose FOCUS of what our purpose and affect are truly to be.  We fail to see the VALUE of our teaching, leadership, as we BLINDLY pursue wealth without rationale.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Now I am the FIRST to say that you should be able to make as much money as you want.  The government should NOT put limitations on any one individual… and yet, I do feel PASSIONATLEY that you must pursue wealth with purpose.

Once affected by a disaster, you are forced to look at your life, your loved ones and your values.  You must ASSESS and REASSESS the reasons you are doing what you do.  To give your kids a BETTER life?  How?  To help people achieve THEIR goals?  In what way?

From the disaster, you are given a REBIRTH.  You are given the chance to start FRESH.  What was yesterday is just that, a past memory.  Your FUTURE is now – bold, daring, unlimited.

Take this day and CHANGE your world for the better, and accept the DISASTER as a gift.  One that may just save your life…

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Stay Focused & Positive

"In order to succeed, people need a sense of self-efficacy, struggle together with resilience to meet the inevitable obstacles and inequities of life."
- Albert Bandura

In my wonderful city of Nashville, we are learning a lesson of RESILIENCE.  While not MEASUREABLE to the devastation of New Orleans, we are faced with similar struggles of rebuilding from a shocking blow of historic flooding.

Our lives, our careers or pursuits are all TEMPERED by our resilience.  You may lose your job without warning, and still you must find a way to OVERCOME financial constraints.  You may lose your home in a massive storm, and you will be TESTED to rebuild your dreams and hope in security.  You may lose a loved one and be CHALLENGED in your faith in GOD.

All in all, it will be your ability to stay FOCUSED and POSITIVE through these challenges that will shape your character.  Shaping the character that will provide you the CONSCIOUS to help others in their time of need.  Shaping the vision to see the WORLD through a bigger lens and see the real PURPOSE for your actions.  Shaping the EDUCATION you will pass to others from your experience.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
There is no MAGIC PILL for facing the CHALLENGES of life.

Your job, security, finances, relationships, even loved ones are ALWAYS at risk.  You can lose it all in the fail swoop of chance.  And yet, over many centuries, we have still continued on. We have TRIUMPHED through battles, disasters, financial collapse, political debacle, death, disease and more.  And yet, we have continued on.

There will be many more challenges, most of which you will NEVER see coming… and if you can be RESILIANT, stay FOCUSED and POSITIVE…

You WILL continue on.

My prayers are focused on those in my community faced with flooding and personal loss.  May you find your resilience quick.  And if needed, contact me to help you continue on.

Cheers,
Zach
