Morning Motivator – The System & Your Independence

"The best way to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence."
-Charles Austin Beard

As you CELEBRATE these next days with BBQs, pool time and the occasional tasty adult beverage, REMEMBER the purpose of this celebration.

As FREE men and women, we celebrate our INDEPENDENCE from tyranny, illegal taxation and control over our thoughts and ideas. We are PRIVILEGED with the ability to CHANGE our position in life through hard work, education and focus. We are provided the LIBERTY to speak out against a government that insists on controlling our outcomes and the use of the fruits of our labors.

As you CELEBRATE, consider your RESPONSIBILITY as a citizen to your fellow man and your DUTY to limit the government's ability to make your decisions for you. We live in a time of GREAT unrest within our domestic and international borders. We have a LEADERSHIP that believes it knows what is best for you and those after you. Regardless of how you FEEL or voted, YOU have the RIGHT and DUTY to make sure that you stand for your beliefs and fight for the rights of others… even in DISAGREEMENT.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
During this past year, I participated in Leadership Nashville, a leadership development and enhancement course for C-Level Executives along with Civic and Community Leaders.

During a course, I remember DISAGREEING with a statement made by someone and FIGHTING for my perspective. Needless to say, I stood alone on my principle; HOWEVER, one of the greatest comments ever made to me was said…

"While I disagree with your statement, I will fight for your ability to make it. Your perspective is every bit as important as any other, maybe more, simply because you are the one person standing against the group."

Agree or disagree… remember that your FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE is derived from your ability to take action against organizations. Stand STRONG… and CELEBRATE your FREEDOM!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - When Will I Be Successful?

"Success is a process more than a realization."
- unknown

I IMAGINE that you are similar to me and have asked, "When Will I Be Successful?" I wonder at what point I will FEEL that I have "made it."

Interestingly, as we ACHIEVE more in our life, accomplishing goals along the way, we seem to never "just be HAPPY." There always seems to be ANOTHER milestone, something else to ATTAIN or getting to the "next level."

Is it possible that SUCCESS is NOT attainable? Could it be that ACHIEVEMENT is an invisible goal, always moving?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
I am REALIZING that success is a patter devised from a process of goal achievement.

The only REAL way to know if you are successful is to:
1. Set S.M.A.R.T goals
2. Measure and review them consistently
3. Benchmark against others
4. Reset and adjust as needed

Define YOUR success, measure it to know you have attained it and then assess what the VALUE of that success is to you, and whether you should seek to repeat the process again...

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - What WON'T You Do?

"Successful people do what unsuccessful people won't."
- Joe White, President, Novacopy

I just ENJOYED breakfast with one of my favorite business leaders in Nashville, Joe White. I am always CHALLENGED and AWED by his laser focus.

We chatted about various topics, however, he made the above comment relating to an event he attended on SUNDAY. Yes, on a Sunday, Joe was attending a Professional Development seminar. While others were at the pool or watching TV, he was GROWING himself personally and professionally.

I WONDERED why I wasn't there... Or if I would have even attended. What would YOU Have done?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Next time you are PRESENTED an opportunity, consider if other successful people are doing the same thing. Consider the people COMPLAINING about it and if you want to be a part of that GROUP...

To be successful, you must take the ACTIONS of a successful person. You may be asked and required to give MORE time, energy, money, etc to get where you seek to be.

Don't worry though... I hear the view from the top of the pile is GREAT! See you there...

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Carry It Out… Through Others

"Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out."
-Stephen Covey

LEADERSHIP. It's a pretty BIG word for those who understand it. It's an even BIGGER responsibility for those who LIVE it. What makes for a great LEADER though?

To lead is to be able to SEE the bigger picture of what must be EXECUTED to achieve a mutually beneficial end goal. To lead is to EMPOWER those with special talent to execute in manners more efficient than you are capable of alone. To lead is to become a SERVANT of those that "do" the work so as to ELIMINATE their barriers to accomplishment.

A GREAT leader realizes that they are NOT the best at doing the work. They also UNDERSTAND that the greatest potential hazard to their achievement is their own EGO. By allowing others to PERFORM at the best of their abilities, leading their own teams within their best CAPACITIES, a leader is able to stay DISCIPLINED in staying the course as distractions arise and TEMPT to pull away their focus.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
I BELIEVE that we all seek to become a great LEADER. We all desire OWNERSHIP of our success and control over our future. Do you SEEK to be in CHARGE of your own happiness?

Learn to LEAD through EMPOWERMENT - the delegation of power and control to OTHERS that seek to have power and control over their own actions. By defining CLEAR goals and SPECIFIC executables timetables, you can allow others the same OWNERSHIP over their success as you seek to embrace yourself. You can ALLOW them to achieve more for your goals, through their own.

To truly become a GREAT leader, you must learn to surround yourself with the BEST and most COMPLIMENTARY talent you can find (and search as much as needed), in addition to learning to SURRENDER your "control" over others, in order to allow them the FREEDOM to be successful. Learn to EMPOWER… and you will become the MOST EFFECTIVE of leaders!

Cheers,
Zach
