Frankly, you may be AMAZING at lots of things, but someone else out there can "whoop your tail" at most of them. Thus, having ALLIANCES with experts and champions for your success will allow you to be EXCEPTIONAL at the few things you "whoop" everyone else at!!

Morning Motivator - Fast, Simple and Effective

One of the world's BEST businesses is BASF Florham, NJ. Sure, you have probably heard of them. Yet, what do they actually make?! You may not KNOW this... they make very little (if anything)!

If you are familiar with the company, you know their motto is "We don't make a lot of the products you buy; we make a lot of the products you buy better!" WHAT AN IDEA!!!

WHAT IF... you didn't have to recreate the wheel? WHAT IF... your job was to make something DIFFICULT, EASIER? Something SLOW, FASTER? Something COMPLICATED, SIMPLE?

How much VALUE does that offer to the end user? I can tell you it is A LOT, as I have watched my friend and mentor, Andy Bailey of NationLink Wireless (mynationlink.com), do it for years! They "Make Wireless Easy" by eliminating all the "go between" of the carrier and the user - especially when it comes to BlackBerry devices.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
When you look at your business are you CREATING more complication that necessary? Are you making it EASY for your clients or just giving the "status quo"?

Do your clients EXPRESS appreciation for the simplicity of your solution? Or are they continually asking question after question?

When you DECIDE you really want to BLOW AWAY your competition... find a SIMPLER, EASIER and FASTER way to do what they do. They won't stand a chance!!

Morning Motivator – Asking the Right Questions, Wrongly… 

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple."
- Dr. Seuss 

I love this quote.  It EXEMPLIFIES the vast majority of us as we approach our professional and personal lives. 

Seemingly, we are all IMPATIENT, seeking the answers to ALL the questions, ALL the time.  Yet, we often CREATE more complication via our impatience than to just look for the most simple answer and ATTACK it with vigor. 

You should be aware, if not already, of 'Ochham's Razor', which states: "The simplest answer is most likely the right one."  This is IMPORTANT to remember as you create RATIONALIZATIONS for your continuance examination of the varying reasons things "just happen." 

People lose deals, break ups occur, natural disasters hit without notice and while you may ANALYZE and OVERANALYZE the reasons "WHY" until your death, it may be as simple as BAD TIMING, INCOMPATIBILITY or just good old "SH*T HAPPENS." 

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Continual assessment and alteration of actions to change your CIRCUMSTANCES is critical to your success.  You must be AWARE of what you are doing, how you are doing it and the results of its effectiveness. 

BE WARY though my good friends.  Over-analysis will create PARALYSIS if not careful.  You can find yourself seeking the answers to questions YOU have made complicated.  Sales are down?  Either you don't have enough QUALIFIFED visits or you are pursuing the WRONG client.  Boyfriend BROKE UP with you?  It could be the INSECURITY created by maintaining a close relationship with a past flame. 

The answers are all too often SIMPLE.  As "rationalizing" creatures, we seek to DEFEND our misguided actions and allow ourselves mentally to get off the hook.  HOWEVER, if you really want to be successful…  just ask the question, look for the most simple answer, then move on! 

ACTION can correct any false analysis.  Trial and error is one hell of a teacher!!

Morning Motivator – Are You Wasting All that Sacrifice? 

"Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be."

I realize that I ask this frequently, in variations, of my readers, yet I ask again… "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE?" 

For me, this is the MOST IMPORTANT question you can ask of yourself.  The reality that we all face is one of SACRIFICE for choices we made in the past.  Relationships, careers choices, education, these all AFFECT our present standing.  These CHOICES have created our current life… but not our FUTURE life! 

Your FUTURE life – the one filled with happiness, success, family and love – is STILL a choice you can make today.  Sure, you may need to correct paths with career, education, relationships, etc; however, all those SITUATIONS can be changed.  You have the ABILITY to be the person you have VISUALIZED in your mind so vividly for all these years… if you are willing to make NEW sacrifices to get there. 

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Facing the reality that you may not be in the place you have sought after is always DIFFICULT.  We are flooded with emotions of EMBARRASSMENT, FAILURE, IGNORANCE and even SHAME.  We ask ourselves, "If I am so awesome, why have I not achieved more?" 

Quite honestly, you are selling yourself a little short.  You, like me, are likely a PERFECTIONIST with a slight in toleration regarding "waiting for success."  You have ACHIEVED much more than you are giving yourself credit for… YET if you are not satisfied, it is time to make a POSITIVE CHANGE in your life. 

Clearly VISUALIZE the life you want, the person you seek to become, and identify the SACRIFICES you need to consider to achieve your "perfect vision of self."  Are you WILLING to make those changes, experience those pains, in order to become the person you DREAM to become? 

It would seem, to me, a waste to experience all the other pain and sacrifice, to SETTLE for anything less…

Morning Motivator - Who You Are Not...

I have always said that business is just like DATING. If you are COMPATIBLE, RESPECTFUL and WILLING TO WORK at it, you should have a great match. If you LIE to yourself or the other party, just to impress or stay close, you are DESTINED to FAIL!

When I heard this quote last week, it made me think about how many people are working in the WRONG job for the WRONG reasons. They may have convinced themselves that they are happy being in FINANCE because they make a good income. They may work 90 hours a week because their boss or parents say "hard work builds character."

Possibly, you are in the RIGHT business for the RIGHT reasons, yet you take on the WRONG clients. They are PRESTIGIOUS, a CASH COW or POLITICALLY they can help you. They are the CLIENT others want... and you got 'em! You just cannot figure out why the RELATIONSHIP is so bad...

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
If working with a client makes you feel LESSER of yourself - is the money worth it? If you are working with a client because you want to PROVE you can overcome, yet you don't have the RESOURCES they need - what do you EXPECT will come of the relationship?

I am very FORTUNATE, as I have found a woman in my PERSONAL life that has shown me what a GREAT relationship looks like, thus allowing me to better ANALYZE what a good "business" relationship looks like.

The CORE LESSON I have learned is: You DON'T have to change who you are to be the RIGHT person for someone else. Rather, you need to CHANGE the WRONG people around you, until you find the RIGHT PERSON.

If you like to yourself to keep a relationship, all you do I ACHIEVE a more painful breakup. Be YOURSELF... and be SUCCESSFUL!
