Morning Motivator - Sharing The Dream

"To ensure your goals are achieved, share them with people that will hold you accountable."
- Unknown

I love it when a close friend SHARES a dream I was not yet aware of. The EXCITEMENT generated from that moment is immeasurable.

What happens in that instance is the fact that this idea "just became REAL."

We all have "dreams," better defined as FANTASIES. You know, the ideas of being rich, powerful, famous, blah, blah, blah... The REAL dreams are much different.

What's the DIFFERENCE?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
A FANTASY has no action, no drive and no real life. It is just a mental ESCAPE from the day-to-day, with a touch of emotion.

A DREAM is what you plan to fulfill. You have a PLAN, a GOAL, and EXECUTABLE actions supporting the achievement of it.

A DREAM is also a PURPOSE driven, long range focus. It is where you want to BE... Not necessarily where you are today, nor in the next 6 months.

The BEAUTY of the differences - your DREAMS are only limited in attainment by YOUR energy and sacrifice.

What is your DREAM??

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - A Good Lesson in Bad Leadership Strategy

"So let me start the discussion of government spending by setting the record straight. At the beginning of the last decade, America had a budget surplus of over $200 billion. By the time I took office, we had a one year deficit of over $1 trillion and projected deficits of $8 trillion over the next decade. Most of this was the result of not paying for two wars, two tax cuts, and an expensive prescription drug program. On top of that, the effects of the recession put a $3 trillion hole in our budget. That was before I walked in the door.  Just stating the facts."
- President Barack Obama

I was SURPRISED (mildly) last night to see the LEADER of most powerful country in the world – "pass the buck."  All politics aside, there is a GREAT lesson in leadership that can be derived from this simple statement.

Assume you are at work and your boss is FURIOUS that you have failed to meet your quarterly goal.  You have a few options here:

1. RATIONALIZE why you couldn't attain your goal (poor economy, bad leads, and lacking support.)

2. COMPARE yourself to the others in your group ("Why so mad at me?  Steve didn't hit his goals either!")

3. OWN the shortcoming and move forward (Yes, ma'am.  I did miss my target.  I have ideas on why and will take corrective actions immediately.)

Now, consider yourself to be the BOSS.

Of the three, which two do you EXCUSE from their role?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
As LEADERS, we are all placed in CHALLENGING environments and are expected to overcome.  That is WHY we are leaders.

The people we lead do NOT want to hear excuses or rationalizations regarding our inability to CREATE prosperity.  They want to SEE action and FEEL results.  They want less talk and more WALK…

I sincerely hope that Mr. Obama is able to lead us in the right direction and achieve what is BEST for the people of the United States.  I hope that we are able to push personal PRIDE and agendas aside in lieu of a better community where people are allowed to prosper, while BETTERING the future for their children.  I hope you will STAND for what you believe… and should you miss the mark…

I hope you will TAKE ownership and lead accordingly.

Skip all the BLAME GAME stuff…

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - New Ways Pay

"Why haven't we ever tried this?"
- The Mantra of the Open-minded Employee

Do you know why your company uses the PROCESSES it does? They work.

Have you ever WONDERED if there is a BETTER way of executing to achieve the same end results? What did you DO about it?

The SYSTEMS we use are RARELY the "best" way of getting things done. Rather, they are the best we are AWARE of, or that we have tested.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
There ARE better ways to lose weight, increase sales, attain education and more. The action of ACCOMPLISHING these "new, better" ways is called INNOVATION.
As a LEADER and INTELLIGENT individual, your innovative ideas offer significant value. Maybe more than anyone else...

By testing new ways and ideas, you have the ABILITY to make a lasting impact on yourself and others.

What GREAT idea do you have that you are AFRAID to test? Share it with me... Let's see how we make it HAPPEN!!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - This is Your Time... Be Great!

"They came here to see us. Let's show them our swagger and our confidence. This is our time!"
- Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Quarterback

Do you know why people LIKE you? Has anyone ever asked you for your EXPERTISE?

People WANT you! Your style, expertise, leadership and CONFIDENCE. They DESIRE association and connectivity with someone that makes them feel at ease in their life.

Think of your BEST friend - are they always SWEET and KIND to you? Of course not. Sometimes they are "too candid" and "too honest" with you... And that is why you love them! They are TRUSTED...

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
Your ABILITY to project your "swagger" (confidence and focus) will DIRECTLY affect your success.
To create your SWAGGER you must build your confidence. Try these builders:
- Publish a weekly blog for your friends and colleagues to critique
- Read 3 books in a very NICHE focused area that you are attracted to
- Join Toastmasters and give a public speech
- Become a member of a local Civic Organization and take a LEADERSHIP role!!

This is YOUR time to be great, to show your swagger, to demonstrate your SPECIAL abilities... Don't miss out!!

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - Should We Be Like Brett?

"I guess it proves I was trying."
- Brett Favre, NFL Statistical Interception Leader

Last night, the Saints (WHO DAT!) and the Vikings played one of the most EXCITING playoff games I have ever witnessed.

Prior to the game, a sports caster interviewed Brett Favre, Vikings Quarterback and Future Hall of Fame Inductee. They chatted about his COUNTLESS records, from game starts to touchdowns, playoff wins to INTERCEPTIONS.

When asked about the interception record and his RECKLESSNESS with the ball, he replied, "I guess it proves I was trying." WOW!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
While some may look at INTERCEPTIONS as a negative mark in Favre's career, he looks at it as a DEFINITION of his excellence.

We often hear FAILURE is what leads to success. Still, we act FEARFUL in the face of potential failure.

How EXCELLENT could you be if you were MENTALLY tough in a way that every failure was VIEWED as evidence of your GREATNESS??

Makes that RISK you are considering a little less risky, eh?

(Congratulations Saints! WHO DAT!!)

Cheers,
Zach
