Morning Motivator – Stay COMMITTED to Your Beliefs…

"Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail."
- Charles F. Kettering

How many times has someone told you that something is NOT possible? Have you ever been challenged in a BELIEF you hold close to your heart? How did that make you FEEL?

Almost a year ago, I joined the team at Advanced Network Solutions with a GOAL to help increase sales, marketing and recurring revenues. I didn't know MUCH about technology, so this was quite CHALLENGING. Yet, I KNEW that if I could figure out a "best solution" for my style of educationally-based selling, I could succeed. I had to BELIEVE that "my way" would work…

Today, just moments ago, I received a POSITIVE call. We WON a huge account!! We offer our service at a higher monthly investment than the other bids – and they still went with us! Why? They liked our ATTENTION to detail, our focus on RESPONSE times and the ability to SIMPLIFY technology in way that ALL the companies users have access to the SOLUTIONS they need to get their work done.

What is it we do that is so SPECIAL? Not much. We just made it EASY for clients to use our services. One FLAT fee monthly, UNLIMITED support and all data PROTECTION services included. They get it ALL – inexpensively and very easily! Just the way I BELIEVED it could be delivered…

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
This Morning Motivator is just a case in point that you don't have to be the "BEST, CHEAPEST or MOST INFORMED" to win.

What you DO have to be is the one that has the MOST confidence, the BEST "solution," and make it very EASY for your clients to get what they want! People will pay MORE for a better way of getting things done… EASILY!!

Stay committed to YOUR way. BELIEVE in your intelligence and talent. If you stick to you ways… others will also become COMMITTED with you.

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – Take a Stand…Any Stand!

"When you take a stand out of deep conviction, people know. They may not even agree, but they ask, 'Do I want someone who is willing to take a hard stand and someone I can trust to do that when the chips are down?' They want that."
-Barbara Boxer

What do you BELIEVE in? I'm talking about your PERSONAL beliefs - religion, politics, business, etc.

If you were asked to take a stand, would you be HONEST about your feelings and thoughts??

Often, I am ACCUSED of being opinionated and aggressive. occasionally, I am asked to SUPRESS my thoughts as some people are in DISAGREEMENT with my position. BUT... They won't express their thoughts!

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
What's the DANGER in speaking your mind?? The RISK of JUDGEMENT.

What happens if you are JUDGED for your thoughts?? NOTHING.

How do people REACT to people that speak their mind? They RESPECT you...

They may not always like what you say, but they will RESPECT your willingness to hold your ground and defend what you BELIEVE in!

Take a STAND... And EARN some respect.

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator - Seth is on a Roll!

I received this email yesterday from Seth Godin (featured earlier this week) and couldn't help myself... it is GREAT!!

"Make a Decision."
- Seth Godin

It doesn't have to be a wise decision or a perfect one. Just make one.

In fact, make several. Make more decisions could be your three word mantra.

No decision is a decision as well, the decision not to decide. Not deciding is usually the wrong decision. If you are the go-to person, the one who can decide, you'll make more of a difference. It doesn't matter so much that you're right, it matters that you decided.

Of course it's risky and painful. That's why it's a rare and valuable skill.

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
"Pulling the trigger" is ALWAYS the most challenging part of the decision making process.

The FEAR and ACCOUNTABILITY all becomes REAL at this point!

Just think about this... WHAT IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN?

Outside of a grim demise, you CAN recover from any decision. So let's be SERIOUS - what are you WAITING for?

Cheers,
Zach

Morning Motivator – An Excerpt from Seth Godin

"What's missing is leadership."
- Seth Godin, author of Tribes

I am reading the book Tribes by Seth Godin and while going through it this weekend I found this EXCELLENT excerpt. Enjoy!

THE WRONG QUESTION

We're almost there, but some of you are itching to ask me exactly the wrong questions, which are:

"How do I do this?" Or even worse:

"How do I get my boss to let me (take control and leadership in my business area)?"

Or to be really blunt:

"What's the risk-free way to insinuate myself into the system so I get approval to make change?"

Surely, there's a method of making change without being burned at the stake?

It turns out that there is, but you already know what it is. Belief.

Nobody is going to listen to your idea for change, sagely shake his head, and say, "Sure, go do that.

No one anoints you as leader.

Nobody is going to see your PowerPoint presentation and hand you a check.

Change isn't made by asking permission. Change is made by asking forgiveness, later.

Morning Motivator - Its 9:45am and What Have You Done?

"Do first things first, and second things not at all."
—Peter Drucker.

It is 9:45am and, admittedly, today I have NOT accomplished much (sorry Sonny). Consequently, how often do you find this HAPPENING to you?

Many people FALL into this same TRAP every day. You know them - the ones that roll in "whenever," then spend 30 mins checking emails, 30 mins chatting it up about last nights game and another 15 mins PREPARING their coffee and other essential items for the day.

Soon enough, its 9:30am (or later) and they have yet to do ANYTHING semi-productive... seriously.

Is it that they (or you) DON'T want to do your job? Is it possible you don't know WHAT your job is?

2 DEGREE SUCCESS STEP:
I PROPOSE a new idea - Get the most important things done FIRST, then go home (or to the gym or wherever you want).

Most bosses would FrEaK OuT if they thought you were going home in the middle of the day (Sonny included I'm sure), yet, what if you were so PRODUCTIVE that you completed everything critical by 2pm? Wouldn't it make sense to just leave as opposed to "babysitting" the computer all day?

Given, I don't own the company I work for, however, when I think about WHAT I want people to accomplish, it has LITTLE to NO RELATION to the amount of TIME they spend doing it or being in the office. It's based on RESULTS. I want you to ACHIEVE your recurring revenue goals, your appointment goals, your report deadlines, etc...

How much more FOCUSED and PRODUCTIVE might you be if you knew that you could leave when your MOST CRITICAL work was done? Think you would get up early and skip coffee for that?? It's just worth THINKING about...

For those that called me out last week for forgetting to note this: As part of my CONTINUED commitment to accountability, today is my weight check in: 228.5lbs. Last check in: 227.5. Delta: +1.0 (Obviously the result of a trip to Scotland and the LSU/Florida game... got to stay focused!)

Cheers,
Zach
